2021-2022 Return to In-Person Instruction Plan
For the 2020-2021 school year, Northwestern School Corporation developed a Return to School Task Force Committee to create, communicate, and implement a comprehensive reopening plan. The areas outlined in this plan represent major considerations our district is addressing to reopen schools safely and to sustain their reopening. Teachers representing each building, district and building administrators, the athletic director, lead nurse, school board member, and parents contributed to the reopening plan. The guidelines referenced in this plan are based on guidance from the IN-CLASS document “Indiana’s Considerations for Learning and Safe Schools (IN-CLASS)”. , Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and applicable federal, state, and local agencies.
For the 2021-2022 school year, all students will return to in-person instruction as described in the Low to No Spread option as detailed within the Northwestern Return to In-Person Instruction Plan. A virtual option will on be available for students in grades 7-12 with a documented medical condition where COVID-19 would prevent in-person instruction.
Of course, as with every plan right now, this document is fluid and will change as necessary based on guidance from the state, CDC and considerations to our families and our staff.
We strongly believe the actions brought forth in this plan are in the best interests of our students, families, staff and community.
